Belden Releases First Set of Environmental, Social and Governance Data

Data provides a baseline for 2025 goals announced in April 2022

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- Belden Inc. (NYSE: BDC), a leading global supplier of specialty networking solutions, has announced its first reporting of environmental, social and governance (ESG) data in a newly released tearsheet. This data gives context to the company’s ESG goals and strategy, which were developed as a result of a 2021 materiality assessment to identify priorities important to Belden’s business and stakeholders.

“At this early stage in Belden’s ESG journey, we know how important it is to understand where we are in order to measure progress and achieve the goals we’ve communicated,” said Leah Tate, Senior Vice President, Human Resources. “Through this process, we’ve taken our 120-year reputation for responsible and ethical operations and formed it into a concrete strategy that will guide us into the future.”

Belden’s tearsheet outlines environmental, social and governance priorities, and includes selected data for 2019, 2020 and 2021. The data was compiled by Belden, with much of it being collected for the first time. The goal of the tearsheet is to provide an overview of the company’s recent performance and set a baseline for assessing progress toward the 2025 goals.

The priorities documented as the result of the materiality assessment include environmental issues such as emissions, energy, waste and raw materials management. Social priorities cover diversity, equity and inclusion, employee wellness and development and supply chain labor standards, while governance priorities point to data privacy, data security and ethical business practices.

“ESG is a key piece of Belden’s overall strategy,” said Roel Vestjens, President and CEO. “These efforts will positively impact Belden associates, enhance our care of the world around us, and continue our long-standing commitment to operating with the highest level of ethics and responsibility. From our ESG commitment to our shift to providing comprehensive solutions for our customers, many of which enable them to accomplish their own sustainability goals, there are many initiatives taking place which demonstrate the transformation driving the next chapter in Belden’s history. I’m so proud of all Belden associates who share the passion for bringing this to life.”
